Unity in Truth

By Meg Lund

I'd like to put forth a few premises that I hope will resonate with you. We haven't been advancing in a positive way as a civilization since the time of Christ. While we've made incredible technical advances, we've virtually destroyed the family unit, connectedness in the local community, our physical, mental and spiritual well-being and we're on the brink of destroying the Earth and all it contains. I don't feel that the human being is essentially evil, but there is no doubt in my mind that evil runs this world. The religious, social, political, educational and economic realms are being powered behind the scenes by hidden forces that have brought us to this point. All the while, they put on a facade of being opposed to each other, but they continue to blow mankind to a state of deprivation and slavery. People are made to be specialists and divided into groups in order to feel like they have control over a portion of their world and that they are engaged in the struggle against evil, whether it be those of another religion, political party, social status, economic status, but it's designed to be an endless battle, a fruitless activity which only results in anger, war and division... food for the evil forces which control the world.

There is only one thing that will truly heal and unite mankind, and that is God. The One living, present God Who subsides in each human being. A God Who Is all Good, all Truth, all Love, all Compassion, all Wisdom, and Source of All, including the solutions to the scarcity, war, sadness, disease, confusion and anguish of this wounded world. Each individual has God present within them, never to leave them, while with their choice they often block Him out. That which is gold is left for that which is straw. The more straw that is gained, the less happy a person becomes. Consider the wealthiest and most powerful, popular individuals on Earth, and it is easy to see that all the riches in the world can't buy happiness.

But what about unity? Isn't our God a God of unity? Yet, why do all of the religions disagree with each other, each purporting to be the only one with the truth? What is truth and does God really want us fighting over it? Could our loving God ever have possibly wished that one of His would kill another of His, or even to subvert another in any way, over religion? Do we need to agree on what we believe in order to get along? Or can we agree on some basic Truths that all religions share in common. The truths that ring in the hearts of man and that no one who has not blocked themselves off from God can deny. The goodness and preciousness of all life, the primacy of human life, honesty, integrity, selflessness, the Law of God written in nature, peace, harmony, simplicity, purity. If we can believe in these things and act accordingly, with a lifestyle that shows respect for each other and God's creation, wouldn't that be enough to "get along?" Once we are united on a level of being able to work together and upholding each other despite our differences in beliefs, those differences will soon disappear. It's holding ourselves apart from each other, physically and in our minds with judgmental and critical thoughts that perpetuate the division in mankind. Let's get working on a common project, to build the Culture of Life, and not concern ourselves with little differences.
