OUR VISION

Our goal is to restore the sanctity of the home
By bringing families back together
To live, work, and pray as one,
United in God's love;
To bring that love to our neighbor and community
To help them in their needs;
And to live simply and modestly,
In harmony with creation
To provide for ourselves as God intended.

Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa both recognized that the root of the problems that we are facing today lies in the family. Pope Benedict XVI is continuing this emphasis. It is up to US to heal our families. No government agency or social program is going to solve this problem for us. Only WE can decide what is needed, and trust in God to provide for us as we go forward in faith.

Do not accept the lie that you can do nothing about the surmounting problems facing mankind. If each of us remains faithful in small matters, God will take care of the big matters. Turn off the tv set, put down the newspaper, find a quiet spot and pray. God is with us! God loves us! God desires for our good, not for our woe. God desires for families to be whole. God desires for people to love one another, to be unselfish, to nurture and defend the creation that He gifted us with, to hear His quiet and subtle voice in that creation, to come to KNOW, to LOVE, and to SERVE Him in this life so that we can be with Him FOREVER in the next. We come to KNOW Him through our connection to each other and to creation. We come to LOVE Him as a result of that knowledge. We come to SERVE Him through answering the needs of each other and all creation. This is God's will for man, and as we answer His will we will find great peace and joy.

Not everyone will be called to make the radical lifestyle change of moving to a homestead in the country, but every small step that people take to be more mindful of God, mindful of each other and mindful of creation throughout their day will help to overturn the culture of death. We are all the Body of Christ, and will be working for the Kingdom in whatever situation we find ourselves in.

The family homestead and a faith-filled community provide a wonderful context for families to grow and heal. Even if a family cannot physically move to a homestead at this point in time, there are many things that they can start to do to live a
homesteading lifestyle, which will reflect respect and love for one another and for creation. The purpose of this website is to encourage families and communities to the simple, homesteading lifestyle and to help remove obstacles that are preventing them from taking this path.

“You who say in silence: ‘Jesus, I trust in you’ teach us that there is no faith more profound, no hope more alive and no love more ardent than the faith, hope and love of a person who in the midst of suffering places himself securely in God’s hands.”
-Pope Benedict XVI during a visit with the sick, May 7, 2007

"In order to assure that the new millennium now approaching will witness a new flourishing of the human spirit, mediated through an authentic culture of freedom, men and women must learn to conquer fear. We must learn not to be afraid, we must rediscover a spirit of hope and a spirit of trust. Hope is not empty optimism springing from a naive confidence that the future will necessarily be better than the past. Hope and trust are the premise of responsible activity and are nurtured in that inner sanctuary of conscience where "man is alone with God" and thus perceives that he is not alone amid the enigmas of existence, for he is surrounded by the love of the Creator."

-Pope John Paul II, as quoted in "Witness of Hope"
